Title: Electical Embedded Firmware Engineer
Location: Hartford, CT – Opportunities to work from home occasionally
Salary: $110,000 – $130,000 + very lucrative Bonus potential!
Responsibilities:
- Develop and Support: Lead the development, integration, and support of hardware and embedded firmware for both new product development and sustaining engineering projects.
- Innovative Projects: Join a dynamic team at an exciting time, contributing to multiple new product development initiatives centered around the company’s core product lines.
- Firmware Development: Focus on embedded firmware development using C/C++ programming languages, leveraging tools like IAR Embedded Workbench.
- Debugging and Analysis: Perform embedded firmware debugging and analysis using ICE, JTAG debuggers, data monitors, source-level debugging, and other methodologies.
- Hardware Integration: Engage in hardware and system development and integration, ensuring seamless operation and performance.
- Component Analysis: Analyze general and specialized components, circuits, signals, and systems to ensure optimal functionality.
- Circuit Simulation: Utilize SPICE modeling for circuit simulation and Altium Designer for schematic capture.
- Electrical Calculations: Calculate voltage, current, and power requirements for various components, circuits, and systems.
- Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with other engineering disciplines, including mechanical, manufacturing, documentation, and software, to support new and sustaining product development, troubleshooting, and manufacturing.
Requirements:
- BSEE Degree
- 5-10+ years in Embedded Firmware and/or Electrical Engineering
Skills:
- Proficient in embedded firmware development (C/C++) and hardware design/integration
- Strong understanding of AC/DC electrical theory and general circuit design/analysis
- Experience with circuit simulation tools like SPICE
- Knowledge of electronic circuits (e.g., amplifiers, switches, rectifiers, filters, I/O circuits, regulators)
- Proficient with electronic test equipment (digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators)
- Familiarity with schematic capture software and IDEs
- Understanding of electromagnetic radiation and heat transfer theories
- Comprehensive knowledge of discrete/integrated electronic components and electromechanical devices
- Awareness of common manufacturing processes
